Are you concerned about your child’s eye sight?
Vision is important in a child’s development, it is known around 80%
of what is taught in school is taught visually.
Children will often have their eyes tested by a health visitor by the age of one. it is advised to have an eye test a few years later at 3 and continually each year from this age.
looking out for potential problems
It can be hard to see if your child may have problems with their eye sight. the following can be just a few things to look for:
- Head aches
- Rubbing of eyes
- Difficulty when reading
- Sensitivity of the eyes
An eye test with an Optometrist is free for all children under 16 years under the NHS. Many of the tests used can be tailored to the age of the child; they do not need to be able to talk or read for an assessment to be made.
